Snapshot ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at snapshot.land. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

  • Account information: Email address, name, and company name provided during registration.
  • Analysis data: Site coordinates, addresses, and analysis results you generate through the platform.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, analysis frequency, and session duration.
  • Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We receive transaction confirmations and billing status only.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve our services
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Deliver analysis reports and maintain your analysis history
  • Send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, account notifications)
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Firebase (Google): Hosting, authentication, database, and cloud functions.
  • Stripe: Payment processing.
  • Federal data sources (USGS, FEMA, USFWS, NREL, USDA, EPA, EIA, FCC): We query these agencies on your behalf to generate analyses. No personal data is shared with them.
  • Google Analytics (if enabled): Anonymous usage analytics to help us understand how the platform is used.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
  • Analysis history: Retained while your account is active. Can be exported or deleted on request.
  • Payment records: Retained for 7 years per tax and accounting requirements.
  • Usage logs: Retained for 12 months, then aggregated and anonymized.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data at any time.
  • Correction: Update your account information through your dashboard.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Portability: Export your analysis history in standard formats (PDF, Excel, GeoJSON).
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Transactional emails (receipts, security alerts) cannot be opted out of.

7. Cookies

  • Essential cookies: Firebase authentication session management. These are required for the service to function.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics (optional). These can be declined via the cookie consent banner.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • Firebase provides enterprise-grade security for data storage.
  • API keys are proxied through server-side functions and are never exposed to clients.
  • Access controls ensure users can only view their own data.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Registered users will be notified of material changes via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
